“For some, this disparity in racial wealth is proof positive of past and present racial discrimination, especially when viewed solely through the prism of race. For purveyors of this argument, it just follows that the only strategy to close the racial wealth gap then must be massive government redistribution programs or reparations in which black people are cumulatively given trillions of dollars to compensate for what they consider generational theft. This is in contrast to more developmental strategies that invest in strengthening stable families, expanding educational opportunities and school choice, and incentivizing work over government dependency, which are the more tried-and-true strategies that people of all races have used to generate wealth.” – Ian V.
