“Because frozen embryos are classified as property in forty-nine states, they have no right to life. their status is loosely regulated and rarely monitored, with the result that little legal guidance exists for resolving disputes around ownership or parentage. In consequence, donated embryos and embryos frozen indefinitely with unpaid storage fees are at risk of destruction, loss, or misidentification.
