Legalized Suicide

Legalized suicide is gaining in popularity. Little doubt, the growing capacity of medical science to keep people “alive” even when people’s bodies and minds have failed is contributing to the trend. “Mercy” is the rallying cry but we should be suspicious of a mercy that encourages those who struggle to kill themselves. We should also be suspicious of the financial angle. Pension plans are underfunded. Social Security is underfunded. Medical care for the infirm is expensive. Killing the infirm is financially beneficial for those in good health.  – E.O.
